I always think it is quiet amazing how many varieties of great colors and color combinations there are to view and talk about. Today is about black and gold. Both bold, sexy and rich, when combined it is just that much more sweeter. I have to say, I am rather fond of the ottoman and gun throw pillows. Love them!

Have you been noticing an awful lot of brown and green sprouting up in home design for some time now? It seems to be due to its association with the actual "being green" movement, if you will. This does seem to make absolute sense. If you do think about it, we do tend to correlate the two said colors with nature and right-fully so. In the image you will see brown and green items that I found to be interesting. Enjoy!

I have always been a fan of brown and beige, it definitely has to do with their versatility, simplicity and natural nature. They are not too bold, but hold their own and can be accessorized fairly easily. Some may find brown and beige to be dull, which is understandable. Though, perhaps it is rather boring when done a monotonous way, without accents, textures and in moderate doses. I have selected some elegant and soothing pieces that bare the beautiful tones. We all have seen hints of the 80's sprinkled here and there throughout the design world, right? With the 80's in mind, I had to go with pink and black, and not just any pinks, but rich, bold pinks.

I must admit that I have been watching commercials from this totally rad decade and pretty much miss how fun and bold everything was. So, here are the
colors black and pink used in home decor items.

Squares, circles and triangles are at the core of what makes the industrial world around us. A universal visual language apparent in all things—the tools we use, the fashion we wear, the buildings we live in and the communications we see.

Visionary modernist architects, designers and artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian, El Lissitzky, and Josef Albers celebrated both the beauty of form as well as the functional potential hidden within these 3 primary shapes and colors.

“The Incredible Journey That is Consciousness” invites each reader to interpret a landscape of symmetries, simplicities and geometric structures.

I have been very into reds and oranges recently so I am taking this opportunity to share my finds that possess thes luscious and warm tones. When thinking about red and orange together it really does not seem to be appealing at all to me. Perhaps it could be that they are both pretty bold colors, and can tend to be overpowering when used in enormous dosages.

When viewing orange and red side by side as in the objects pictured, it does not seem so harsh, but rather hip and pleasant. They really do not look bad at all.

As mentioned in several posts prior to this, I have always loved gray tones long before I became fond of bright, bold hues. I will always adore gray and white, which is my reason for choosing this pairing (any excuse I have that will allow me to talk about the two, I will happily take advantage of it).

If I could get away with generously adorning my home in all white, I would. As some find it to be quite boring, drab, old or whatever negative term you would like to use for it, I find it to be rather invigorating and fresh. As for gray, when used on the walls it is amazing, and I believe it's very versatile, as far as decorating goes. It comes across as chic, in my opinion.

Do you think that gray is fun color to work with as well as white?

The color combination of orange and brown brings to mind the 70's as well as fast food places, in particular Roy Rogers which I use to love as a little girl (but it no longer exists in my area). Being that orange and browns are used, or were used, in some restaurants makes sense as it is suppose to stimulate appetite.

Some love the two shades combined and some do not. If you are one who does not find this marriage of hues pleasing then maybe the cute items chosen may help to change that.

Yellow is warm, fresh and summer-y, as is the color white. The two can be strong and should probably be used sparingly.  Yellow can irritate little ones when overused, which is not a good thing (I find it to be quiet interesting that when I'm sick I do not like seeing the color yellow). I love white as well as yellow, but I would go crazy if I had to view it in enormous doses on a daily basis. It is good to keep this in mind, and if you feel as though you can't get enough, and can handle an overwhelming amount of yellow, then have fun.

What do you think of the two colors, and how do they affect you?

Gray is an interesting shade which can at times come across as rather gloomy. Though it can be seen as gloomy, it does have another positive side. The side that is rich, soothing and simply chic. If you have been noticing, gray has been pretty hot for some time now paired along with other colors. It is an absolutely brilliant background color when decorating and great fashion-wise too. What is your favorite shade of gray?
